Our founding principle is you can’t manage something if you don’t measure it.
We are currently working on our 2017 Empathy Index which is a ‘corporate fitbit for empathy‘. Our index is based on indicators we determine to affect a company’s empathy levels; the 2017 index will include employee perceptions of the company, diversity and inclusion initiatives at the company, and environmental factors including carbon emissions, forestry and water usage.
For this next edition—our fourth—we’ll expand our index and further refine our methodology, in part by aligning it with the UN’s 17 Sustainability Development Goals. We will expand the number of countries under consideration to correspond with those that have signed onto the Sustainable Development Goals and to ensure more representative global coverage. We are also working with new data partners including Thomson Reuters and CDP, in our ongoing effort to improve the methodology.
